About Us

How We're Helping

Operation Discover is aTallahassee Rotary Club project that encourages our members and others to help young people in economically deprived areas of our city to discover a brighter future through one-on-one mentoring. This endeavor is being undertaken with the assistance and support of the Leon County Sheriff's Office, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leon County, the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Bend, Lively Tech. and Leon County Schools.

Would you like to be part of Operation Discover? Let us know! We are always looking for volunteers to help us make our vision a reality. We'll help you find a way to volunteer that best suits you and can provide guidelines and resources. We welcome you to join the team.

We are asking you to help our young people find a pathway to personal success by helping them "discover" how to control anger, how to avoid the temptations of drugs and "easy" money, how to relate to others in a positive way, how the long term benefits of doing "right" far outweigh the short term gains of doing "wrong”, and that there is a bright future awaiting them. We have a strong demand for mentors to work with students in the Leon County School System. We encourage these mentors to spend one hour a week with a student for a school term. This type mentoring takes place within the schools during school hours. We are currently directing our efforts toward middle and high school age students. Operation Discover is a partner with Leon County Schools Partners for Excellence program.
